Indian Origin.  The flower is seen as a sacred Water Lilly, Meaning:  Purity.  Meanig when used as a girl name "Lotus" (Greek Origin) - Dreamer

The lotus flower played an important part in ancient Egyptian religion.  The pure white lotus flower, the only plant to fruit and flower simultaneously, emerges from the depths of the muddy swamp.  Growing from the mud at the bottom of ponds and streams, the exquisite Lotus flower rises above the water.  This is a symbol of the sun, of creation and rebirth.  Because at night the flower closes and sinks underwater, at dawn it rises and opens again.  According to one creation myth it was a giant lotus which first rose out of the waterey chaos at the beginning of time.

The Lotus Flower has for thousands of years symbolized spiritual enlightenment.  Indeed, this flower essence's purpose is to accelerate spiritual evolvement and enhance healing on every level within the system.

A baby's ear is developed at 4 and a half months in the utero and the neurological system is myelinating at 7 months.  The baby is listening to the mother's heartbeat, respiratin, and vocalizations during the pregnancy and becomes comfortable and familiar with those sounds.  Because the birthing process is traumatic to the baby, the mother's voice, because of its familiar tone and rhythm, are soothing to the baby at birth. If the mother's voice is introduced at a filtered level imitating the sounds within the utero, the baby often has an immediate response of feeling reassured, that is the same with sound during pregnancy and why the bell is constantly worn.

After birth the bell is hung above the baby's crib and rung when th baby is upset or uneasy or during breastfeeding the mother keeps on wearing it on a shorter chain.  The baby recognises the calming chiming sound and feels reassured.
